INBRE Summer Research Fellowship
The INBRE Summer Research Fellowship is an 8 to 10 week intensive biomedical research fellowship in which students pursue an independent research question in the laboratory of an INBRE mentor. 2009 Summer Research Fellows (2008) (2007) (2006)
The Mentor Directory lists all Maine INBRE research mentors and describes their ongoing research project. Interested students should read the research summaries and identify the top three mentors with whom they would like to work this summer. Students may select any mentor on the list, irrespective of the student’s or mentor’s institution.
Undergraduate students must attend a Maine college or university. Students must have completed one semester of college-level biology. Chemistry is strongly suggested, but not required. Graduating seniors are not eligible to apply unless their graduation date occurs AFTER the summer fellowship.

A faculty committee comprised of members of each Maine INBRE institution reviews applications. Each application is read by three reviewers who assign both a score and a rank. Final decisions are made by the committee, and students are notified by email one month after the application deadline. The Maine INBRE Outreach Core makes final student and mentor assignments. Final award notifications will be made by March 1st.
The INBRE Summer Research Fellowship includes room and board, a weekly stipend, and research supply funds for the mentor. We will also reimburse travel expenses to and from the fellowship site.
